Rep. Lisa Posthumous Lyons will conduct the meeting and told Gongwer News,

“Ms. Lyons said she plans to just open up the floor for questions from members, and find out if there is something that can be done to take an assessment model and it make it more unique for the state.

“I’m going into these with an open mind,” she said. “I know it’s not the Legislature’s role to select an assessment. But as we fund the assessment, we do have a fiduciary responsibility that the assessment we pick is one we think is best for our students so that they’re learning.”

Please plan to attend.  Assessments are a critical component of the national education reforms that go along with Common Core.  Michigan must retain control over assessments.

Also, Melanie Kurdys will be speaking on Common Core on Jan 14 at the Howard Miller Library, 714 S. Church St Zeeland, Michigan.   Hope you can attend!
