The Michigan House passed an education budget bill with an amendment that stops state funding for the implementation of the Common Core and its assessments.
The National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers developed the Common Core State Standards to be used across all states.
Michigan joined the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium which is standardized testing aligned with the Common Core to be implemented by 2015.
